This study analyzes the role of mosques as information centers for religious tourism in supporting a sharia-based local economy. The study is grounded in the increasing development of religious tourism in Indonesia, while the institutional role of mosques in tourism information governance has remained relatively underexplored. A normative-conceptual approach was employed through literature review, regulatory analysis, and theoretical examination of the mosque’s social function, religious tourism, and the sharia economy. The findings indicate that mosques have strategic potential as centers for distributing information on local Islamic history, providing sharia tourism education, recommending halal MSMEs, and coordinating socio-religious activities. The analysis also reveals several gaps, including the absence of national standards for mosque-based religious tourism management, limited human resources, and the low level of information digitalization. In conclusion, optimizing mosque functions may strengthen tourist flows, local halal consumption, and sustainable local economic development in accordance with sharia principles.
