This study analyzes the socio-economic impact of pilgrimage tourism on local community welfare in Cirebon by highlighting commodification of sacred space, microeconomic circulation, cultural preservation, and governance constraints. A descriptive-qualitative approach was employed to interpret field phenomena in a contextual and integrated manner. The data were examined through observation, document review, and an interpretation of economic activities around the pilgrimage area. The findings show that pilgrimage tourism increases the income of small traders, parking attendants, food vendors, transport providers, and MSMEs that benefit from visitor flows. It also generates a local economic multiplier effect by widening income circulation within the surrounding community. However, these benefits have not been distributed evenly because of beggar presence, fragmented institutional coordination, and limited local regulation. The study confirms that pilgrimage tourism in Cirebon is simultaneously a spiritual, economic, and cultural arena. Maximizing its contribution to welfare requires collaborative governance, stronger community empowerment, and consistent policy support for sustainable destination management.
