Abstract
Stunting remains a major public health problem affecting human resource quality and social development in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the determinants of mothers’ participation in Posyandu-based stunting prevention programs in Sumbawa Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 120 mothers of toddlers selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and inferentially using chi-square tests and logistic regression analysis. The findings indicate that maternal knowledge, support from Posyandu cadres, socioeconomic conditions, and access to health services significantly influence mothers’ participation in stunting prevention programs. Maternal knowledge emerged as the dominant factor affecting participatory behavior in Posyandu activities. In addition, the role of health cadres proved effective in increasing public awareness through educational approaches and family health assistance. This study argues that the success of stunting prevention programs depends not only on medical interventions but also on strengthening community participation and equitable access to health services. Academically, this research contributes to the development of community-based public health studies by examining the relationship between social, economic, and health behavior factors in stunting prevention.
