Abstract

The development of digital media has transformed the pattern of Islamic preaching communication among young people, particularly university students as active users of on-demand audio-based digital media. Islamic podcasts have emerged as a preaching medium that offers flexible access, personalized messages, and higher interactivity compared to conventional preaching media. This study aims to analyze da’wah communication strategies through Islamic podcasts in improving students’ religious literacy in the digital era. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature study method by examining various studies related to podcasts, digital communication, media literacy, and digital da’wah. The data were analyzed thematically by identifying communication patterns, podcast media characteristics, and their influence on students’ religious information consumption behavior. The findings indicate that da’wah communication strategies through Islamic podcasts effectively enhance students’ religious literacy through flexible, dialogical, simple, and accessible message delivery. Podcasts also strengthen audience engagement through personal communication styles and digital platform-based distribution. This study argues that Islamic podcasts function not only as a medium for disseminating da’wah but also as an instrument of digital religious literacy that shapes students’ religious understanding in a more critical and contextual manner amid contemporary digital media transformation.
